foxfirefeySure, we all love good infographics, but maybe you also want to rage a bit about graphics that make no sense. WTF Visualizations is here to help.

User-to-user relationship graphs
May. 28th, 2010 05:23 pmfoxfirefeyI wanted to share my playing around with graphing Dreamwidth users' "circles".
- The graph consists of nodes (the circles with the journals names on them) and edges (the lines between the nodes).
- A line between two nodes means that those two users have a mutual relationship. That means they subscribe to each other, give each other access, or both.
- The size of the node indicates how many mutual relationships that user has in total--the more, the bigger the node.
- The color of the node indicates how many relative mutual relationships that user has with you--the darker the red, the more connections you two share.
- Note that you don't show up in the graphs, since you are connected to everybody
- If you have a relationship with a user but they don't have any relationships with anybody else you're connected to, they don't show up either (I call them "singlets").

I kept a log of my dreams for 2.5 months, then categorized them by type, mood, cause, etc. through color and lines. I also provided a dream catalog with short, descriptive titles. The image created by the intersecting lines and circular calendar is representational of a dream catcher."
Look at it, it's really a nice graph.

You probably all know this, but ... well, maybe not.
Indexed is kind of a webcomic, yet it's not a comic. Every day (?) Jessica Hagy posts a note card with some sort or clever graph on it, showing the world relationships between things it probably hasn't seen in this light until now.
I love my daily dose of indexed and maybe you like it, too :)
On LJ there is a feed, I don't know about DW ...
